Oleksandr Zinchenko’s move from Manchester City to Napoli remains on course, but delays while the Italian club focus on first offloading several players could put the deal at risk.
As reported by Gazzamercato, a meeting was held in Naples on Thursday between Napoli bosses and Alan Prudnikov and Vadim Barlamov, two of Zinchenko’s representatives. And it was a productive meeting in which it was clearly established that the 20-year-old still wants to join Napoli.
As mentioned, Napoli are trying to trim their squad before committing to further purchases, with the priority of club chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis being to sort out exits for Duván Zapata, Leonardo Pavoletti and Emanuele Giaccherini.
While this delay hasn’t yet endangered Zinchenko’s move to Italy, it could put it at risk with several Premier League clubs suddenly showing interest in the Ukraine international.
Napoli have a deal with Man City on the basis of a loan with an option to buy, which could become an obligation after he makes a certain number of appearances. However, with plenty of money up and down the Premier League now, if the Italians do not hurry up, interest from England could complicate matters.
