Lyon opted not to sign Eliaquim Mangala from Manchester City earlier this summer after much consideration, while a loan deal for Jason Denayer collapsed when City tried to instead push him towards partner club Girona FC.
Not to be deterred, the Ligue 1 side are now targeting a third City player, this one much less prolific than Mangala and Denayer.
Le Parisien reports this evening that Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has made 19-year-old midfielder, Yangel Herrera, a priority target and is hoping to do a deal with City.

Herrera is currently on loan at New York City FC, with former EDS coach Patrick Vieira tasked with continuing his development after City paid £1.7million to sign him from Atlético Venezuela in January.
And the midfielder, who has already won two caps for the senior Venezuelan national team, has been making a huge impression in New York.

For that reason, Manchester City are reluctant to sell him, having only bought him a year back, and Le Parisien states that any deal will be complicated to pull off.
However, having made Herrera their top priority to strengthen the midfield, Bruno Génésio’s side will explore the possibility of signing the teenager. City have shown an openness to selling good young talents of late by including buy-back clauses in deals.
