Manchester City have loaned right-back Pablo Maffeo to Girona FC for what will be the 20-year-old’s third spell at the Catalan club.

The young Spaniard racked up 542 minutes in his first Girona loan and 1,106 minutes in his second, showing his steady progress and increasing importance to Pablo Machín’s side.
This time there is added importance with Girona having achieved their ambition of promotion to La Liga, Spain’s top-flight. This will give Pablo the chance to line up against the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann.
He is one of four City youngsters at Girona, with the other three – Douglas Luiz, Aleix Garcia and Marlos Moreno – still yet to be announced. The announcement of Maffeo could mean the other three will also soon be unveiled as Girona players for the coming season.
