Benjamin Mendy has again been left out of a Monaco pre-season fixture after not being named in the 23-man squad that has flown to Lisbon to face Sporting.

The 23-year-old was left out of Monaco’s excursion to Switzerland recently because of a reported injury, but either he remains injured or is being protected while City and Monaco thrash out a deal after it was reported last night that the principality club were finally ready to sell Mendy after City made a fourth bid.
So while the likes of Mbappé, Lemar and Fabinho – other big names at Monaco linked with big money moves – have flown with the squad, Mendy remains absent from the club’s pre-season program.
Bids of €40million, €45million and €52.5million for Mendy were rejected by Monaco, who after seeing what City paid for Kyle Walker, demanded a similar amount be handed over for the French international. But a new one lodged last night, thought to be in the €57million region, was said to have satisfied Monaco.
Both clubs were confident on Thursday night that a deal for Mendy could be finalised as soon as Friday and hopefully the news City fans have been waiting for will arrive soon.
