Manchester City are close to finally signing Benjamin Mendy from Monaco after having three previous bids rejected, L’Equipe reports this evening.
City have returned with a fourth offer and while figures are not known yet, it is expected that he final amount paid for Mendy will be similar to huge fee City splashed out for Kyle Walker a week ago.
Bids of €40million, €45million and €52.5million were rejected by Monaco, who after seeing what City paid for Walker, demanded a similar amount be handed over for the 23-year-old French international.
Nabil Djellit of France Football stated on Twitter that it will be a record fee for a defender.

Both clubs were confident on Thursday night that a deal for Mendy can be finalised on Friday, bringing to an end one of the most drawn out transfer sagas of the summer.
Pep Guardiola will have both of his first-choice targets for the full-back positions in place should the deal go through as expected, with Danilo also arriving and expected to rotate and compete with both Mendy and Walker.
