He did it in the semi-final with a cheeky backheeled goal and today Manchester City academy forward Lukas Nmecha made the difference as his 68th minute goal fired England’s under-19s to the UEFA U19 European Championships in Georgia.
Easah Suliman of Aston Villa put the Young Lions after 50 minutes before an own goal from Chelsea’s Dujon Sterling squared things up. But it was City’s Nmecha who again game to the rescue, putting the ball into an empty net after great work from another Chelsea youngster, Mason Mount.
Nmecha was one of two Manchester City academy prospects in the England starting eleven, with Isaac Buckley also playing his part in the final.
