The 19-year-old underwent a medical yesterday at the City Football Academy and signed his contract, with the club now making it official.
The latest reports from Brazil state that City paid a fee of around €13million (£11.4million) for the player, a considerable investment that shows just how highly he is rated.
Sporting director Txiki Begiristain told the official site, “We are pleased to welcome Douglas. He is an exciting player with great potential, and everyone here is looking forward to helping him develop his talent and progress in the game.”
City will announce his next move in the coming days, with Girona thought to be the most likely loan destination for the teenager.
