The 20-year-old will remain at Sogndal for the 2017 season and sporting director Håvard Flo expressed his delight, describing Nwakali as a key player and also one “with a high technical level and great pace”.
After impressing at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup alongside Kelechi Iheanacho, Nwakali was brought to the club with Kelechi. Unlike Iheanacho, his career has yet to reach the same heights with loan moves to Málaga B and Girona not working out well, leading to City sending him to Norway.
Following a season at Tippeligaen side IK Start, Chidi moved to their rivals Sogndal where he has enjoyed a good run leading to the club prolonging his stay.
