Official: Sogndal Fotball extend loan deal of Manchester City youngster Chidi Nwakali

Norwegian club Sogndal Fotball have announced on their official website that an agreement has been reached with Manchester City to extend the loan deal of Nigerian midfielder Chidiebere Nwakali.

The 20-year-old will remain at Sogndal for the 2017 season and sporting director Håvard Flo expressed his delight, describing Nwakali as a key player and also one “with a high technical level and great pace”.

After impressing at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup alongside Kelechi Iheanacho, Nwakali was brought to the club with Kelechi. Unlike Iheanacho, his career has yet to reach the same heights with loan moves to Málaga B and Girona not working out well, leading to City sending him to Norway.

Following a season at Tippeligaen side IK Start, Chidi moved to their rivals Sogndal where he has enjoyed a good run leading to the club prolonging his stay.
