While many of you may be frustrated waiting for new signings, it is important to note that we’re still technically only eleven days into the summer transfer window. Agreements for Bernardo Silva and Ederson Moraes were reached before the window opened, giving Blues hope that it would be a quick and efficient process this summer.
In reality, things do feel like they’re dragging, with just one established full-back, Aleksandar Kolarov (who is more of a centre-back these days), on the books as the pre-season tour of America draws ever closer.
But new signings could and should arrive soon, with talks having been held for the likes of Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Dani Alves. Alexis Sanchez, if there is any hope of extracting him from a reluctant Arsenal, is a saga that is likely to drag on into August.
Catalan newspaper SPORT has printed a graphic of a potential Man City XI next season under Pep Guardiola, with a long list of alternate options. Should this come to fruition, the Blues would have incredible options in almost every position, and using the image for example, could bench Sergio Agüero, Yaya Touré, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sané and still have a mouth-watering starting XI with Alexis, Bernardo and Gabriel Jesus up-front.
Of course, Txiki Begiristain and his staff still have to get these deals over the line, some of which are easier said than done, but if City successfully acquire their main targets, they will surely be a bigger force next season than in the past few years.
