Claudio Bravo is willing to cut short his summer break to win over his critics at Manchester City and show Pep Guardiola that he is up to the task of challenging new signing Ederson Moraes for the number one spot.
The Daily Star Sunday reports that while Bravo is not due back until later this month, he could return earlier as he looks to make an impression in pre-season.
Having represented Chile at the FIFA Confederations Cup, 35-year-old Bravo is due to return back later than others, but appears to be a man with a point to prove.
His camp have ‘raised eyebrows’ after claims from the father of Real Sociedad goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli that City tried to use their buy-back clause on the Argentine stopper this summer.
Rulli turned down a move to City, fearing it would impact his attempts to go to the 2018 World Cup with Argentina. This, along with the £34.9million capture of Ederson from Benfica appears to have motivated more than angered Claudio Bravo, who is determined to make Ederson fight for his place at City.
Bravo impressed at the Confederations Cup, winning the Golden Glove award after some excellent displays, particularly in the semi-final against Portugal where he kept a clean sheet over 120 minutes before saving all three of Portugal’s penalties in the resulting shootout.
