Turkish Süper Lig side Başakşehir have this afternoon confirmed earlier news that Manchester City have sent a delegation to negotiate the transfer of winger Cengiz Ünder.
In a brief public statement posted on their website, Başakşehir said that a four hour meeting had taken place between the club’s board and officials of Manchester City to try and strike a deal for the highly-rated 19 year old.
However, negotiations came to an end with no agreement yet. The inclusion of the word ‘yet’ suggests there will be a second round of talks for the player.
Capped four times by Turkey at senior level, Ünder made 32 league appearances for Başakşehir last season, scoring 7 goals and assisting 5. If Ünder was to arrive, a work permit would be unlikely and he would probably be loaned to a club on the continent.
