Manchester City have put an end to their interest in 23-year-old Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Marquinhos, The Independent reports.
In truth, the Brazilian international has only been tenuously linked with City, by the same newspaper that now reports City have ended their interest in adding Marquinhos to their growing number of Brazilians.
This news comes after Marquinhos signed a new long-term deal at the Parc des Princes, extending his stay in the French capital until 2022.

City are reported to be in for a centre-back this summer and while most other targets are well-known, the identity of this defender is currently the great mystery of the summer transfer window. In recent days it has been suggested that Pep Guardiola is going to try and hijack Chelsea’s deal to sign Germany defender Antonio Rüdiger.
A move for Rüdiger may prove difficult considering Chelsea have already agreed a fee with his club Roma and personal terms with the player. Other names mentioned in recent months include Leonardo Bonucci, Virgil van Dijk, Aymeric Laporte and Lucas Hernández.
What we know for sure now is Marquinhos will not be the so-called ‘mystery centre-back’ who is the hot topic on social media among City fans…
