Manchester City signed goalkeeper Ederson Moraes from Benfica for a £34.9 million (€40 million) earlier this summer, and many Blues have eager to see the 23-year-old in action.
Ederson is one of the most highly-rated upcoming goalkeepers in world football and with a skill set ideal for a Pep Guardiola side, seems a perfect fit for City. Then again, many said the same of Claudio Bravo who endured a nightmare debut season in England.
So with many still unsure how good Ederson is, it’s always wise to get the view of someone in-the-know, and the man he displaced as Benfica’s first-choice goalkeeper, Julio César, has given his compatriot the highest praise in an interview during the Troca de Passes show on Globo.
“Last season, Ederson was a starter and I was on the bench,” said the former Inter Milan stopper. “He has a bright future and is technically very good, and will be the goalkeeper of Brazil’s national team.”
“Ederson plays very well with his feet and this is what caught the attention of Manchester City. Guardiola likes this very much and saw him play against Bayern.
“He has force that no other goalkeeper in the world possesses, it’s surreal.”
If those words aren’t enough to excite you, then just look at the pinpoint accuracy Ederson possesses:
