The hottest transfer rumour of the summer is Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City, a deal that is by no means a certainty but one that Txiki Begiristain is working hard to make happen.
Arsenal’s hope, if resigned to losing the 28-year-old, had been to sell him to Bayern Munich, but the requested fee and Alexis’ personal demands appear to have priced the Bundesliga giants out of a deal.
With Chelsea also cooling their interest, it leaves Manchester City uncontested in the hunt for Alexis, but despite that and the player’s desire for a switch to the Etihad, it remains a complicated situation with Arsenal desperate not to sell to their rivals.
Alexis is currently at the FIFA Confederations Cup with his friend and teammate Claudio Bravo, a Manchester City player, and the two are preparing to face Germany in the final.
Sanchez made some cryptic comments about his future earlier, and Bravo lavished praise on his compatriot, not exactly hiding the fact that he’d love to see Alexis at the Etihad next season.
“I’ve said on numerous occasions, he’s one of the best players in the world,” Bravo told Sky Sports News.
“He plays at an incredible level for the national team and an incredible level at his club. He has a great future ahead of him. He’s always reaching new heights with the national team.
“It’s great to see him growing as a player. Of course, I would love to have him as a teammate. But it’s not a matter just for the two of us. It’s something the clubs have to go through.”
Bravo also used an interesting hashtag on Twitter today concerning he and Alexis: #alwaystogether. Will they be playing club football together next season?
