Benjamin Mendy is poised to follow Monaco team-mate Bernardo Silva to Manchester City with sources in England and Monaco reporting that he is closing in on a big money move to the Etihad.
Jonathan Smith of ESPN reports that the 22-year-old left-back could be the club’s second signing from this season’s Ligue 1 champions, while two well-respected sources in the principality itself say a deal is close.
They both claim that Mendy should soon arrive at the Etihad for a fee of betweem €50 million (£43.6 million) and €54 million (£47 million).

Interest from Manchester United could threaten any deal, with the reliable Mohamed Bouhafsi of RMC Sport reporting that the two clubs are locked in a battle for the study full-back. He claims that City are in talks with Monaco, but nothing is done yet, with Barcelona, United, Chelsea and Liverpool also after the player.

Kyle Walker is also expected to move to Manchester City imminently and the club could soon have two new full-backs in place if Mendy is as close as some of these reports suggest.
