Manchester City have announced that Willy Caballero is leaving the club upon the expiration of his contract on June 30.
The Wembley hero, who became a fan favourite after a heroic display in which he saved a string of penalties against Liverpool in the 2016 League Cup final, becomes the THIRD player in as many hours to be announced as leaving the club.
Signed from Malaga in 2014 to reunite with his former boss Manuel Pellegrini, Willy made 48 appearances in total for City and this season enjoyed his longest run in the first team, replacing Claudio Bravo between the sticks.
In a statement to the official site, Caballero said:
“It’s been a privilege to play for Manchester City.
“From the first day I arrived, everyone at the Club has made me feel welcome and I will always be grateful to them.
“To win the League Cup in such dramatic circumstances was special and it’s a day I will never forget.”
I’m sure I join every Man City fan in wishing Willy Caballero nothing but the best in future.
