Every week the list of clubs interested in Manchester City striker Enes Ünal seems to grow. This should come as no surprise since it was reported at the beginning of the month that TWENTY clubs are on the trail of the 20-year-old.
Lazio and Lille were two of the clubs said to be chasing Ünal, but beIN SPORTS has released a much longer list of sides keen on acquiring the 19-goal hitman following his successful year at FC Twente in the Eredivisie.
The biggest names are Borussia Dortmund and newly-crowned French champions Monaco. It should probably tell City fans how much potential Ünal has that two clubs famous for identifying and developing young players are keen on him. They are joined by Portuguese giants FC Porto and Benfica, two more clubs famed for turning young prospects into expensive superstars.
In addition to Dortmund, there is Bundesliga interest in Ünal from Werder Bremen and Schalke 04, the latter having developed the likes of Leroy Sané, Manuel Neuer, Julian Draxler and Mesut Özil in recent years.
More clubs may yet make their interest known, but what is clear is that Manchester City have a real talent on their hands here. Some would like Pep Guardiola to bring him back into the fold, but with just five caps to date for the Turkish national team, a work permit would be almost impossible to obtain.
A loan move would be the wise option, but the high profile of clubs interested in Ünal could mean that cash offers arrive. If City do decide to cash in, they would be wise to include sell-on and buy-back clauses in any deal, with the young Turk looking like one of the better strike prospects emerging in Europe right now.
