They played together at Arsenal and at Manchester City, and soon full-backs Bacary Sagna and Gaël Clichy could find themselves at a third Premier League club together.
The French duo are subject to interest from Crystal Palace according to an exclusive in The Sun, with Sam Allardyce having them on a list of summer targets.
Sagna, 34, and Clichy, 31, are both out of contract at the Etihad in June and are not expected to be offered fresh terms. The two have a mass of experience between them, and an ‘Etihad source’ told The Sun that Palace have had an interest in the two for a while and are now ready to make their move.
Sagna and Clichy will follow Pablo Zabaleta out of Manchester City, meaning the club will only have one natural senior full-back left in Aleksandar Kolarov – and even he has been used more as a centre-back this season. A growing number of full-backs are being linked with a move to City, and it is clear that the club will have to invest a large chunk of their transfer budget to improve these positions.
