It was a transfer saga that started with unusual activity on the betting markets. Tottenham right-back, Kyle Walker, was suddenly 4/6 to join Manchester City at Sky Bet and 1/2 to leave Spurs on Coral, fueling speculation that something was in motion.
Soon after came stories from the press that City were seriously interested in the 26-year-old England international, who it is said hasn’t been seeing eye to eye with Mauricio Pochettino of late.
And then yesterday there was information from a trusted City ‘ITK’ suggesting that a deal for Walker was ‘done’ and the betting markets seem to reflect this information.
After a flurry of activity that saw odds shorten to 1/10 from 1/3, Sky Bet have suspended betting on Kyle Walker’s next club in the last few minutes. He was 1/3 to join last night, shortened to 3/10 at 1:35pm, then to 1/10 at 3:26pm before Sky Bet decided to take down the market, for now at least, at 5:40pm.
Done deal? Not until the clubs say so, but there are signs that Manchester City may have found their new right-back.
