Manchester City may have to buy two right-backs this summer if Jesus Navas rejects a contract offer that is on the table, amid interest from his hometown club Sevilla.
Pablo Zabaleta’s exit after a nine-year stay at the club was confirmed last night and Bacary Sagna is also expected to leave, as six veterans come to the end of their deals.
And The Sun on Sunday reports that City will look to buy two right-backs in the summer, with the marquee signing expected to be Kyle Walker if Tottenham agree to a sale. Nélson Semedo of Benfica and Arsenal star Héctor Bellerín are two others said to be on the radar, possibly in the event that Walker proves to be unobtainable.
If City do invest in two right-backs, the other recruit could be a relative unknown, with the The Sun on Sunday revealing that City scout Gary Worthington watched France under-20 right-back, Nordi Mukiele, start for Montpellier against Rennes last week.
The 19-year-old is considered one of the brightest talents in French football and Worthington is filing a report on his progress ahead of a possible summer bid from Manchester City.
Mukiele joined Montpellier from Laval for £1.3 million just a year ago and has made 15 appearances in Ligue 1 for La Paillade this season, putting in a string of impressive performances. He has also worked his way up through international ranks at youth level, making six appearances for France’s under-20 team.
And if Worthington’s dossier on the youngster recommends a concrete approach to sign him, he could be one of many fresh faces expected to arrive at the Etihad this summer.
