It appears that Manchester City are going to pull out all the stops to hand Pep Guardiola the left-back he has requested, 26-year-old Alex Sandro of Juventus. Reports are almost daily now of City’s strong interest in the player, but another journalist, who should always be taken seriously, has chimed in with his own information.
Romeo Agresti of Goal Italia is considered by many Juventus fans to be the source for reliable news concerning the Old Lady. And speaking to Radio VS last night, he relayed what he knows.
Firstly, he confirmed that Manchester City plan a serious ‘offensive’ to sign Alex Sandro in the coming weeks – their interest is very real. However, Agresti added that Juventus do not want to sell him and will put up a wall in an attempt to fend off City.

The Italian champions successfully kept Leonardo Bonucci from joining City last summer and it appears that they will try again with Alex Sandro. Some of the fees being mooted, with Tuttosport suggesting that City could go as high as an astonishing €70 million (£59.1 million), would be hard for any club to resist.
This could become quite a saga if City try to strong-arm the Brazilian international away from a club that does not like to sell its prized assets. The question is do Juventus have a fee in mind that would convince them to part with their excellent left-back? Reports yesterday claimed they have already approached Roma about signing 23-year-old Emerson Palmieri as a Sandro replacement, which if true, would suggest that there is a possibility City could get their man this summer.
