Manchester City have dispatched a representative on a scouting mission to watch a Juventus defender when the Serie A giants face Atalanta today, according to exclusive information collected by TMW.
And it’s not Leonardo Bonucci, a man Pep Guardiola knows all about and still wants at City. Instead, it’ll be another long-term target, 26-year-old left-back Alex Sandro, who City’s scout will have eyes on.
The Brazilian has been on City’s radar since his days at FC Porto, but Juventus won the race to sign him in 2015, while City now find themselves in a position where they urgently need recruitments at left-back and right-back.
There are few better left-backs around than Alex Sandro, but Juventus are determined to hold on to him and fully expect him to renew his contract until 2021.
Still, City do not seem to have given up yet and may make another attempt to sign Sandro, possibly in a double deal with Bonucci. Prising one of them away from Turin will be hard work, but both may prove too difficult this summer as Pep Guardiola prepares to ring the changes.
For a limited time, you can get your hands on a Manchester City official shirt from just £30 for adults and £22.50 for children.
