At this point, it is almost an open secret that Manchester City winger Jesús Navas will return home to Sevilla this summer after four years at the Etihad. AS Roma are known to have an interest in the 31-year-old, but that is an option Navas will not consider unless Sevilla decide they don’t want him back.
Luckily for Navas, all signs point to a return to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, with even club president José Castro confirming interest in their prodigal son recently.
And local source Estadio Deportivo has offered a few more bits of information today that make Navas’ return to Sevilla sound almost like a formality.
According to the Seville-based sports newspaper, talks have been taking place, both on a formal and informal level, for months between the Andalusian club and Navas’ representatives, working towards a deal when his Manchester City contract expires in June.
Despite being 31, Sevilla are certain Jesús has plenty of life left in him because of his speed and work ethic, and believe he could play as a right-back for Jorge Sampaoli’s side. With that in mind, they are preparing to offer him a three year deal with the option of a fourth year.
To rejoin Sevilla, Navas will have to take a significant pay cut, but that is something he will be happy to do in order to complete his dream of returning home.
