After a year on loan in Spain, 26-year-old Manchester City defender, Eliaquim Mangala, could soon be playing his football at the Türk Telekom Arena in Istanbul.
According to Sözcü, Turkish giants Galatasaray are already working on a deal for Mangala as part of their summer recruitment plans. Valencia would like to hold on to him, but Financial Fair Play issues will make it difficult for the La Liga club to fund both a transfer fee and pay his salary.
Galatasaray coach, Igor Tudor, recently said publicly, “We must first strengthen the defence”, and club management have responded by starting work on a deal for Mangala, who City will hope to find a buyer for in the summer.
The Turks are hoping to acquire Mangala for below his market value, given City’s obvious desire to sell him, and will offer the French international a 3-year deal worth €3 million per season, according to Sözcü.
Mangala has made 22 appearances in La Liga this campaign for Valencia, scoring two goals, his most recent against Barcelona during a crazy 15 minutes in which he found the net and then was sent off.
Until the end of March, the City Store is marking down some iconic Retro Shirts to £20 (£18 for Cityzens).
