Manchester City look set to add to their youth ranks this summer with highly-rated Paris Saint-Germain and France under-18 defender, Dan-Axel Zagadou, close to leaving Parc des Princes for the Etihad Stadium.
It was reported in February that City were getting closer to signing the 6’3″ tall centre-back after Pep Guardiola personally showed him around the state-of-the-art City Football Academy.
PSG remained hopeful that Zagadou would sign his first professional contract with the club, but according to Onze Mondial, he is one of two top academy prospects the French champions are expecting to lose shortly.
17-year-old Mahamadou Dembélé, wanted by European giants such as Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Liverpool and Atlético Madrid, is the other name edging towards the exit door of PSG’s esteemed academy, but it is Zagadou who will be of more interest to Blues. That is because PSG are becoming increasingly resigned to losing Zagadou to City when his contract expires in June.
PSG may yet make one final attempt to keep Zagadou, considered one of France’s most promising teen defenders, but if that fails the City Football Academy will be welcoming another of tomorrow’s stars to its ranks in the summer.
