Pep Guardiola has met with the agent of Sead Kolašinac on Tuesday according to reports from German outlet Bild.
The report suggests that Pep Guardiola is looking to forge ahead in the race to sign the 23-year-old who is out of contract at Schalke in the summer.
There have been offers from a number of clubs for the talented defender, whose recent form and contract situation has put him on the radar of clubs such as Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, AC Milan, AS Roma and Juventus.
However, it’s Pep Guardiola who is making the major moves in trying to convince the defender that his club is the right way to go, and it is hoped Leroy Sané can have an influence on the transfer as the two were good friends at Schalke.
Manchester City are in dire need of full-backs and Sead Kolašinac is seen as an ideal and cheap replacement for those that will be pushed out of the door.
It isn’t just his defensive attributes that impress Pep Guardiola though, the defender averages a goal/assist every 206 minutes, a stat that makes him the second most effective attacking full-back in Europe behind Marcelo.
