Leroy Sané set to face Raheem Sterling and John Stones as Man City stars receive call-ups

Leroy Sané will square off against Manchester City teammates Raheem Sterling and John Stones (plus Joe Hart in net!) next week at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund.

The 21-year-old wing wizard was today named in Germany’s squad for the prestige friendly against England next Wednesday and the World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan.

There is no place for Vincent Kompany in a Belgium squad loaded with Premier League talent, but Kevin De Bruyne is called up by the Red Devils. Belgium boss, Roberto Martínez, explained Kompany’s non-selection (with ex-Blue, Dedryck Boyata, receiving the call ahead of him), saying, “He first has to be fully fit again.”

Spain veteran David Silva will oppose Bacary Sagna, having been named in Spain’s squad to face France and Israel. There is no place for out-of-favour Nolito, who had become a regular in the squad until recently, while Jesús Navas has long ceased to be called up for international duty.

FIFA’s latest international break runs from 20-28 March with City stars both at senior and youth level set to disperse across the globe to represent their nations next week.
