After last summer’s fiasco which saw the first ever Manchester derby outside of the UK cancelled due to torrential rain in China, the Manchester giants are going to try again this summer.
Manchester City and Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle to play a prestigious pre-season friendly in the USA this summer, according to James Ducker of the Telegraph.
Nothing has formally been signed yet, but officials are confident that the match will take place as part of this summer’s International Champions Cup in America.
America’s first ever Manchester derby is likely to take place on the west coast, where both teams will be based for pre-season, with July 25 suggested as a possible date.
The Telegraph says United have a similar agreement to face Barcelona, and if Barça are also part of the ICC, could that mean Pep Guardiola’s City might also face his old club in the summer?
