Controversial referee appointed for Huddersfield vs. Manchester City

He was a referee Manchester City hoped never to see again, but ‘Altrincham fan’ Anthony Taylor of Wythenshawe, Manchester, is back for another City appointment this weekend.

38-year-old Taylor has been named referee for City’s FA Cup Fifth Round trip to Huddersfield this weekend, which will have many fearing an early cup exit, given his performances in past City games.

Taylor controversially took charge of City’s home clash with Chelsea earlier this season, a game which saw the hosts finish with nine men. Blues were incensed by Taylor, who many feel has never been a fair referee when in charge of Manchester City games.

The match officials for this Saturday’s FA Cup game in full are:

Referee: Anthony Taylor
Assistant Referee: Peter Kirkup
Assistant Referee: David Bryan
Fourth Official: Tony Harrington
