Pep Guardiola wants Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to replace Sergio Aguero as his main striker, according to the Express.
Express Sport understand that Manchester City’s head coach will move for Borussia Dortmund’s star striker after remaining unconvinced by Sergio Aguero. The Express, along with a host of outlets, have long been pushing the ship that Aguero’s days at City are numbered.
Last week, Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke said the club would consider selling the 27-year-old Gabonese international if a €80m (£68.5m) bid came in. Aubameyang further intensified rumours he would leave after telling French radio RMC Sport today: “If I want to go to the next level, I need to leave in summer. Real Madrid is still a dream, but there has been too much noise.”
Aubameyang has long admired the possibility of playing for Real Madrid but it appears the affection isn’t mutual. If so, then it could clear the way for Aubameyang to team up with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City this summer.
