David Faupala recently returned to Manchester City following a disappointing loan spell at partner club NAC Breda in the Netherlands, and City have wasted no time in trying to find the striker a new club.
19-year-old Faupala, a former France under-18 international, made headlines last season when he put a youthful City side into the lead against a full strength Chelsea in the FA Cup. At the time, Faupala wasn’t even a guaranteed starter for City’s Elite Development Squad, so to score at Stamford Bridge was a huge achievement.
Unfortunately, a loan move to Breda didn’t pan out, with just three Jupiler League appearances in half a season, leading to the deal being cut short prematurely.
According to HLN in Belgium, he is now on trial at Zulte Waregem, who sit third in the Belgian league, just three points behind leaders Club Brugge. The club will test Faupala and if he impresses, he will be offered a contract.
HLN does not clarify if the move would be another loan or permanent deal, but Belgium could be David Faupala’s next destination if all goes well.
