Kelechi Iheanacho has tonight been recognised as Africa’s Most Promising Talent at the CAF Best of 2016 Awards.
The 20-year-old also won this prize in 2013 but another stellar season for Manchester City and his country, Nigeria, mean he has been handed the award for a second time.
Kelechi already has 20 career goals for City despite his tender years, and has set an example for other youngsters to follow by making a full breakthrough to the first-team fold.
With Sergio Agüero ahead of him in the pecking order, Iheanacho has to take his opportunies when they come, and recently scored in the 3-0 win away at Hull.
Having also scored 4 goals in 7 games for Nigeria, Kelechi will be looking to build on a great start to his career in the coming years and hopefully some day emulate his City team-mate Yaya Touré in being named African Footballer of the Year.
Congratulations to Kelechi on his award!
