Yaya Touré’s agent Dimitri Seluk is no stranger to outrageous comments, many of them aimed at Manchester City management and Pep Guardiola in recent years.
Speaking to Russian outlet Championat, Yaya’s always controversial representative has come up with another inflammatory remark that is bound to cause much debate in the red and blue halves of Manchester.
Following José Mourinho’s claim that United midfielder Paul Pogba is the ‘best midfielder in the world’, Seluk responded: “I have great respect for Mourinho, but his eyes have dulled with time. Pogba is a good football player, but the best midfielder in the world is Yaya Touré.”
Pogba was often compared to Touré in his formative years as a player, due to his build and athleticism, and as the world’s most expensive footballer the spotlight is on him more than ever before. After a sluggish start to his second spell at United, the 23-year-old has become a key player in their resurgence, helping them to four Premier League wins on the bounce.
However, Yaya Touré has been hugely important in keeping City in touch with leaders Chelsea, scoring key goals away at Crystal Palace and Hull getting City out of tight spots. The 33-year-old also impressed against Arsenal in the 2-1 win at the weekend.
