They waged war on the pitch last weekend, with Chelsea prevailing, but the league leaders and Manchester City are ready to do battle again – for a 13-year-old wonderkid!
According to The Sun, the Premier League giants both hope to tie up a deal for Celtic wonderkid Karamoko Dembele, reportedly the ‘most sought-after star in Britain’.
13-year-old Dembele, who shares a surname with an unusually large number of prominent footballers, represented Celtic’s under-20 side in September, against players up to seven age groups above him!
An assured performance in that game and others that followed by the diminutive playmaker have caught the attention of City and Chelsea, who boast excellent training facilities, with Dutch side Ajax also monitoring the situation.
Celtic are desperate to keep the English-born teenager, who joined the Scottish giants at the age of 10, and Brendan Rodgers has cited the development of (the unrelated) Moussa Dembele as an example of why Karamoko should stay and develop at the club.
However, City and Chelsea are both desperate to lure the starlet back south, while England and Scotland are also battling over which country he decides to represent in the short and long-term.
