There is little to play for tonight for Manchester City as they host Celtic in their last Champions League group stage game. City secured passage to the last 16 with a dull, but efficient 1-1 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach in November, securing second place. No result in this game or Barcelona vs. Gladbach could impact City’s position, so it is very much a ‘dead rubber’ for the Blues.
While there is little to play for, it gives Pep Guardiola a chance to rest some key names after the Chelsea implosion and ahead of Leicester away, and continue to assess his squad. The City boss has made several changes, and here are the teams he and opposition coach Brendan Rodgers have selected tonight:
Manchester City XI: Caballero, Maffeo, Zabaleta, Sagna, Adarabioyo, Clichy, Fernando, Gundogan, Sane, Nolito, Iheanacho
Celtic XI: Gordon, Lustig, Simunovic, Sviatchenko, Izaguirre, Brown, Rogic, Armstrong, Roberts, Forrest, Dembele
