Referee appointed for Manchester City vs. Celtic

An unfamiliar name will take charge of Manchester City vs. Celtic on Tuesday night at the Etihad Stadium when the teams meet in the Champions League.

37-year-old Slavko Vinčić of Slovenia will make his debut in the Champions League proper, having overseen several qualifiers and many Europa League games in recent years.

This will be the first time Vinčić has officiated a City game, but he has some experience with Celtic, having been appointed for their 2-1 defeat to Molde in the 2015-16 Europa League. He was also in charge of Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Sion in the same competition.
