Manchester City are looking far and wide for full-backs if reports are to be believed. Many left and right-sided defenders have been linked in the past month, and today a new name has emerged.
Udinese right-back Silvan Widmer, who also represents the Switzerland national team, is ‘on the agenda’ of Manchester City according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
The 23-year-old has mostly been linked with other Serie A clubs, including Inter and Roma, but now it appears that City have a scouting presence with eyes on the player as they assess options for the position, with both Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna out of contract next summer.
Udinese are struggling in Serie A this season, currently sat in 15th position, but Widmer is one of their prized assets and has 3 assists in 9 appearances for the Little Zebras this season.
The extent of City’s interest isn’t made clear by Mundo Deportivo and he is likely one of many potential targets being monitored by the club’s vast scouting network at this point of the season.
