After inspiring Palmeiras to their first Brasileirão league title since 1994, 19-year-old sensation Gabriel Jesus is about to begin the next stage of his career with Manchester City.
The Brazilian international has tonight left Brazil and is currently en route to Manchester for medical tests and first contact with his new club.
The young striker has confirmed on his Instagram that he is flying out to Manchester, saying “Manchester, here I come.”
In addition, Globo Esporte has confirmed the flight, adding that he is expected back in Brazil on Sunday, but his participation in Palmeiras’ last league game against Vitória is in doubt.
Before leaving England, it is reported that Gabriel Jesus will have dinner with Pep Guardiola, look for a home in Manchester, and also attend the big City vs. Chelsea game at the Etihad on Saturday.
It’s expected that Gabriel Jesus will have a short break after a very busy year in which he played many games for Palmeiras and the Brazil national team. City will then be bolstered by the addition of one of world football’s most promising young players early in 2017, who could potentially be secret weapon in their quest to win trophies in Pep Guardiola’s first season in charge.
