Manchester City hero Sergio Agüero has once again been linked with a high-profile move to Real Madrid in recent weeks. This link has surfaced in virtually every transfer window since he joined City in 2011, but the Argentine has remained loyal to the Blues, where he feels important and valued.
Kun has repeatedly had to play down reports of a switch to the Santiago Bernabéu and with speculation that he and Pep Guardiola don’t see eye to eye recently, talk of an exit has been louder than before.
However, both Guardiola and Agüero have shot down media reports as nonsense. Pep recently told the press, “We need him. Without him we cannot achieve our target, it is impossible. When he is happy the team is happy.”
And now, while on international duty with Argentina, Agüero has moved again to pledge his immediate future to City. Speaking to the microphones of ESPN Radio, the 28-year-old said:
“I never had problems with Guardiola nor vice versa. He’s always tried to help me and given me advice. After the Paraguay game, I was feeling very bad and Guardiola helped me a lot.
“For the moment, I’m fine at Manchester City, and when I leave it will be to return to Independiente.
“How long has it been rumoured about (going to) Real Madrid? I’m very happy at City and more so now with Pep here.”
Agüero also confirmed that Lionel Messi was ‘furious’ in the tunnel after Barcelona’s loss to City, but said nothing happened between his compatriot and Fernandinho. Guardiola also recently played down reports of a tussle between Messi and Mikel Arteta.
