Manchester City face Middlesbrough at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow as they attempt to retain their top spot in the Premier League – but how do the two sides compare?
City were in a ‘crisis’ before their previous two games, they hadn’t won in six – but due to wins against West Brom and Barcelona, their form has climbed to a figure of 47%. Middlesbrough’s form stands a bit lower, they are running at 33% with one win, two draws and two losses.
In their previous meetings, City have come out on top just six times compared to Middlesbrough’s eleven, with five draws in total. Middlesbrough’s biggest win was in an 8-1 win eight years ago, whereas City have only managed to beat Middlesbrough by two goals previously in a 3-1 victory back in 2007.
However, since the majority of their previous meetings, City have vastly improved. They are now under the guidance of Pep Guardiola and are averaging over a goal more per game than Middlesbrough this season.
