Manchester City have made contact with Brazilian club Palmeiras in recent days to investigate the possibility of signing Colombian international defender Yerry Mina.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have a first-option deal on the 22-year-old that allows them to buy him for €9 million in 2017, €10 million in 2018, or €12 million in 2019, after which their agreement expires.
Palmeiras rate the 6’4″ tall defender, who has scored 4 goals in 7 games this season, at €30 million, but Barça could take him for €9 million next summer if they utilise their agreement.
A close associate of Txiki Begiristain has been in contact with chiefs of the Brazilian club about acquiring the Colombian, who AC Milan and Bayern Munich are also showing interest in. The Premier League club are encouraged by the fact that they were able to sign Gabriel Jesus from Palmeiras, with Barcelona instead opting for Valencia forward Paco Alcácer.
With so much interest in Mina, Barça may have to make a decision quickly on whether to sign the player or risk losing him to a rival European club – quite possibly Manchester City.
Though a centre-back, Mina is a weapon from corners and scores plenty of goals. Check some of them out:
