City have been dealt a major blow, as transfer target Toni Kroos signs a new Real Madrid deal.
Manchester City target Toni Kroos has signed a new contract at Real Madrid which will keep at the La Liga giants until 2022.
Earlier today, Bild reported that Kroos would become the highest paid German international with a deal worth approximately £345,000-a-week before tax, working out at around £18 million per year.
In a statement, Real Madrid said: “Real Madrid C. F. and Toni Kroos have come to an agreement on a contract extension which will see the player linked to the club until 30 June 2022.
Toni Kroos will speak to the media tomorrow in the press room of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.”
The new contract is a major blow to Pep Guardiola as he looked to strengthen his midfield and the Spaniard will have to look elsewhere despite being strongly linked with the World Cup winner during the summer transfer window.
