Nine Manchester City players receive international call-ups

It’s that time again when the football most English fans actually care about is shelved for a week while internationals take over. As always, Manchester City will have players flying across the world to represent their countries, though Belgium will be without injured duo Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne, who Pep Guardiola said today could still be two or three weeks away from fitness.

Sergio Agüero, Nicolás Otamendi and Pablo Zabaleta were recently called up for Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Paraguay, while Fernandinho is back in the Brazil fold and will join Gabriel Jesus on international duty.

Today alone, NINE players have received call-ups, the most noteworthy being İlkay Gündoğan’s return to the Germany squad after his recovery from injury. SIX young Englishmen have also been given the call to represent the Young Lions in two separate age groups.

Today’s call-ups are as follows:

England U18: Ash Kigbu and Sadou Diallo

England U19: Cameron Humphreys, Isaac Buckley-Ricketts and Lukas Nmecha

England U20: Patrick Roberts

Spain: David Silva and Nolito

Germany: İlkay Gündoğan

The England squad has yet to be named because of the Sam Allardyce scandal, but Raheem Sterling and John Stones can expect call-ups, as well as Joe Hart, who is on loan at Torino.
