It’s the Battle of Britain! Manchester City face Celtic tonight in Group C of the Champions League, with the Blues looking to make it two out of two in the group following the 4-0 thrashing of Borussia Mönchengladbach earlier this month. Celtic took an even bigger hammering than Gladbach, going down 7-0 to a rampant Barcelona, and will be looking to find their footing in the competition tonight at a noisy Celtic Park.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is no stranger to City and was once approached to be Roberto Mancini’s assistant manager by club chiefs. He also fought it out with City, while Liverpool manager, for the 2013-14 Premier League trophy, with a late slip by his side leading to City’s title win. Tonight, he squares off against Pep Guardiola, who has started life at City boss with ten perfect wins.
An experienced referee has been given the task of overseeing tonight’s game, Italy’s Nicola Rizzoli, who was in charge of the 2014 World Cup final. Here are tonight’s lineups, with City captained by David Silva:
Celtic XI: Gordon, Lustig, Toure, Sviatchenko, Tierney, Brown, Bitton, Forrest, Rogic, Sinclair, Dembele
City XI: Bravo, Zabaleta, Otamendi, Kolarov, Clichy, Fernandinho, Gundogan, Silva, Sterling, Nolito, Aguero
