Dimitri Seluk, the controversial and outspoken agent of Yaya Touré, continues to run his mouth while Yaya remains silent and does nothing to silence his representative.
The latest of several outbursts since Pep Guardiola demanded an apology from Seluk in order for Touré to for City again, came on the BBC’s World Football Podcast. Seluk went after Guardiola again, saying:
“Pep Guardiola – he thinks only about himself. He thinks he is already God.
“He won with Barcelona many titles but Yaya also won the same titles with Barcelona. Pep thinks now he has won everything and he can do what he wants.
“For me, very strange things (have happened) in Manchester City because Yaya played with them many years, Hart played with them many years, I don’t know, Kompany played many years, and in comes a new coach and says, ‘Okay, these players out like dogs’.”
Guardiola’s request for an apology fell on deaf ears, leading to yet more bizarre comments from Seluk, who is known for his lack of professionalism and self-control.
“Everybody can speak what they want. We are in an open country.
“I was born in Russia, there was Communist party. I know when it is not possible to say anything, but I am sorry, I am now in Europe, in England. Guardiola, if he wants to live in a country where it is not possible to say anything, he must change country.”
Yaya Touré’s City career is almost certainly over now. Not only have he and his agent refused to apologise to Manchester City and Pep Guardiola for all of the slander from Seluk, the Ukrainian agent has continued to make matters worse. He is already looking ahead to his client’s future away from the Etihad.
“I am sure in two months we will have many offers. I already have a few offers for Yaya.
“He can play five or six years without any problem. I am sure some clubs in England, in France, in Italy, in Spain will want him.
“Already (clubs in) United States, China invite Yaya but I think Yaya will play in Europe more years.”
Touré’s last appearance for the Blues was in the Champions League qualifier against Steaua Bucureşti. Since then, he hasn’t played a minute of football and may never again while at City. Only time will tell how much, if at all, the behaviour of himself and his agent will damage his City legacy.
