According to The Sun, the 33-year-old Ivorian has been impressing in training and will be given some game time against Swansea in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.
Joining him will be Leroy Sané, who would likely have played even had Nolito not picked up a suspension, but the Spaniard’s red card all but confirms the 20-year-old winger will make his full debut.
Vincent Kompany could also make his long-awaited return after four months out of action, it is reported. The club captain was an unused substitute against Bournemouth at weekend, but may now be ready to play his first minutes of the season.
Kompany is ‘desperate’ to play again according to the Mirror, which also reports he could feature against the Swans on Wednesday.
With big names returning, Pep Guardiola will face selection dilemmas, something he won’t mind with a busy run of games coming up.
