Pep Guardiola could seek a reunion with Arsenal star Alexis Sánchez in January, according to an exclusive report by the Sunday Express.
Chilean international Sánchez is currently at an impasse with Arsenal over a new contract, with his current deal set to expire in 2018. This would mean Arsenal could go into next summer’s transfer window facing the prospect of the 27-year-old leaving on a free transfer in a year’s time.
Sánchez wants around £200,000 a week to commit his future to Arsenal according to the report, with City ready to swoop as early as January if the two sides fail to reach an agreement.
Guardiola signed Sánchez for Barcelona in 2011 and after an outstanding performance against Real Madrid in early 2012, Pep said that Alexis had won his heart. Sánchez turned down City to join Guardiola at Barcelona, having been a priority target for Roberto Mancini at the time.
Any deal for Sánchez would add yet more firepower to a City squad already blessed with attacking options, with the likelihood being that Jesús Navas, who is out of contract next summer, would make way.
