Claudio Bravo – 5
Started well but it turned into a horror show, with the Chilean at fault for United’s goal. His confidence went to bits in the second half.
Bacary Sagna – 7
Dealt with the threat of Lingard and Rashford superbly. Was also great in the air defending against United’s long ball system.
John Stones – 7
Dealt well with Ibrahimovic, and his passing from the back at times was typically impressive.
Nicolas Otamendi – 9
Imperious. An absolutely superb showing and went from strength to strength. When he’s on his game he’s a top class centre-back.
Aleksandar Kolarov – 7
Excellent. Mourinho tried to nullify him with the pace of Valencia but he came out on top in every battle.
Fernandinho – 8
What a player. Was great in front of the back four, and in the second half he provided so many counter attacking opportunities.
Raheem Sterling – 6
His off the ball movement was exceptional, and he dragged Shaw out of position many times. However, his final ball still needs to improve.
David Silva – 8
Ran the game. Gave Pogba a headache and controlled the midfield effortlessly.
Kevin De Bruyne – 9 (Man of the Match)
Unbelievable. Scored the first, set up the second and was a constant menace throughout. Has ice in his veins.
Nolito – 8
Pinned Valencia back all game and his work rate was exceptional. Already looks at home in this team and system.
Kelechi Iheanacho – 7
Played a huge part in both goals, setting up the first and scoring the second. He bullied Bailly in the first half before being substituted.
Fernando – 7
Came on to protect the back four in a tactical switch by Pep, and did just that. Sniffed out so many United attacks and was crucial in City holding on to the lead.
Leroy Sané – 6
Looked rusty but nearly provided an assist for De Bruyne. Will get better with more game time.
Pablo Zabaleta – N/A
No time to mark.
