In his latest and possibly most absurd outburst yet, Dimitri Seluk, agent of Manchester City star Yaya Touré, has hit out at Pep Guardiola and claimed he will cost the Blues many fans in Africa.
Talking exclusively to the Daily Mail, Seluk again showed a complete lack of professionalism and self-control, making this bold claim:
“They will lose a lot of millions of supporters from Africa because of this decision from Guardiola.
“Now they will support Manchester United. A lot of people in Africa say they will never see any more matches of City on TV.”
The Ukrainian agent went on to hint that Yaya could sign a pre-contract with another club in January, because his City deal is up next summer:
“Yaya in January can sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs abroad.”
“He will have many offers from clubs. China and America of course they want him but we will have a lot of offers from England and Europe. He is in very good shape, very good condition, I think he lost seven kilograms.”
Perhaps that weight loss has to do with the strict training regime introduced by the man Seluk criticised, Pep Guardiola, who has made his players get in tip-top shape for the new season. Even so, Seluk took another shot at the Catalan coach:
“Maybe that’s not good enough for Guardiola, but then Zlatan Ibrahimovic wasn’t good enough for him.
“In January we will see. It is three months to wait — no problem. Yaya is a very professional guy.”
These comments are in stark contrast to an interview Seluk gave to Sport Express days ago, where he came across as surprisingly reasonable and professional. City have grown used to these interviews and done nothing about them, and the likelihood is that with Yaya Touré in his final season at City, this one will also be ignored.
But has this mouthy agent soured Yaya’s legacy at Manchester City with his stupid comments year after year?
