Watch: Manchester City new boy Gabriel Jesus shines with two goals for Brazil

Gabriel Jesus showed tonight why Manchester City have handed over a fee of around £27 million for his talents. Given the legendary number 9 shirt, the 19-year-old rewarded Tite’s faith in him with a brace on his debut for the senior Brazil national side.

Brazil beat Ecuador 3-0 on enemy turf, a match in which the hosts were tipped to beat the Seleção having gone eleven matches unbeaten at home in World Cup qualifiers, a record stretching back to 2009. Not only did Gabriel Jesus, who will remain on loan at Palmeiras until January, score two of the goals, but he earned a penalty which Neymar went on to convert.

For sure, Manchester City have a gem here and with the right development under Pep Guardiola, he could become a big name in world football. He is expected to join up with the City squad for the second half of the season.
